Stanislavsky
“The charisma and power in his playing
created an astonishing experience and brought the chamber orchestra to moments of elation.”
Epoch Times

Note: Victor Stanislavsky has been selected as one of the thirty competitors for the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, May 22 - June 7, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Young musicians face a myriad of challenges when beginning their careers. For Victor Stanislavsky, balancing his time between his mandatory three-year service in the Israeli Defense Forces and his studies at a nearby conservatory taught him a rare kind of discipline. “I got through the harshest part — basic training — and was assigned to a base which, lucky for me, was very near the conservatory. Sometimes I had to run back and forth between the base and school a few times a day,” he comments. “Now, I live with my music all the time. The only sacrifices I make are the ones that make me a better musician!”
The young Israeli pianist is gaining a reputation as a soloist and chamber musician. In past seasons, he has performed at the Ravinia and Israel Festivals and throughout China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and the United States. He has appeared as soloist with the Romanian State Philharmonic Orchestra, New York’s Summit Music Festival Symphony Orchestra, Milan’s “I Pomeriggi Musicali” Symphony Orchestra, China’s National Symphony Orchestra, as well as Israel’s top orchestras. Stanislavsky has also worked with renowned conductors, including John Covelli, Kainen Johns, Jose-Maria Florencio, Nicholas Carthy, and Li Xinhao.
In 2007, Stanislavsky was awarded Second Prize and the Prize for the best performance of a commissioned piece at Italy’s E. Pozzoli International Piano Competition, as well as Second Prize at the China International Piano Competition.
Victor Stanislavsky was born in Ukraine in 1982 and immigrated to Israel in 1990. He began piano lessons with Rieta Lesochin at the Rubin Conservatory in Haifa and by age ten, won first prize in a young talent competition in Israel. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree with highest honours from the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University, studying with Daniel Gortler, and is now working toward his Master of Music degree with Arie Vardi. He has studied in masterclass with Leon Fleisher, Claude Franck, Menahem Pressler, Robert Levin, Vladimir Viardo, Christopher Elton, John O'Conor, Pnina Salzman, among others. He has received an America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship since 2002.
Victor Stanislavsky opened the 2008 Shanghai Piano Festival in October this year with his recital, and presented classes at the festival.
